Look beyond the overall silhouette
A sample can have the right shape while still needing changes to its stitching. Before approving a custom clothing order, review the outside and inside of the garment in good light. Compare what you see with your approved construction reference, and record the exact places that need attention.
These short workshop clips show fabric handling during sewing. They provide a view of the process; they cannot establish seam strength, wash performance or the quality of a whole order. Those points need a physical sample and agreed checks.
Check consistency along the seam
Lay the sample flat without pulling it into position. Look for uneven stitching, missed stitches, loose thread loops and unwanted puckering. Turn the garment inside out and look at how seam edges and ends are finished. The right finish depends on the fabric and the intended construction.
- Compare matching details on the left and right sides.
- Look closely at seam junctions, corners and areas that carry tension.
- Check whether visible topstitching follows the agreed reference.
- Flag any rough or bulky areas that affect comfort.
Review the garment in use
Try the sample on the intended fit model, where possible. Check how seams behave during normal movement and whether they restrict the fit. For stretch designs, agree on the required movement and recovery rather than judging the garment only while it lies flat.
If wash performance matters to your project, agree on a care method and sample test before approval. Record changes in measurements, seam appearance and shape. A short sewing video cannot replace this review.
Give feedback that the factory can act on
Send an overall photo, a close-up and a short explanation for each requested change. Mark the location and reference the relevant measurement or construction detail. Keep comments in one version so there is a clear record of what has changed.
